Discussing Ceasefire In Gaza, Prabowo Meets US Foreign Minister Blinken In Amman
JAKARTA The Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with the United States (US) Minister of Foreign Affairs Antony John Blinken, in Amman, Jordan, Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
The second meeting was held after Prabowo was a speaker at the Gaza Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza' Summit.
In this case, Indonesia welcomes the adoption of the 2735 UN DK Resolution proposed by US President Biden with a three-phase proposal for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Indonesia also appreciates the mediation efforts carried out by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar.
Indonesia is ready to cooperate with America, Egypt and Qatar to ensure negotiations continue and realize a permanent ceasefire and a just and lasting peace in Palestine. An immediate, complete, and thorough ceasefire is essential to revive the peace process," Prabowo said in his statement, Wednesday, June 12.
On the same occasion, Prabowo again voiced that the urgency of international support was very much needed for the Palestinian state.
This is to realize the state status and development of its nation, including strengthening its government, providing assistance for recovery, and towards membership at the United Nations.
Blinken at a bilateral meeting with Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for Indonesia's support for the ceasefire proposal.

"Thank you to the Minister of Defense for Indonesia's support for the proposal to immediately reach a ceasefire in Gaza and guarantee the release of all hostages," said Anthony to Prabowo.
At the end of the meeting, Anthony again congratulated Prabowo on the victory won as President of the Republic of Indonesia to be elected in the 2024-2029 General Election. And, he reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to carry out the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
