Papua New Guinean Army Almost Arrested Keerom Papuan Teacher, BPKLN Reported To Consulate
JAKARTA - Head of the Papua Provincial Government Border and Foreign Cooperation Agency (BPKLN), Suzana Wanggai, admitted that his party had reported that the Papua New Guinea (PNG) army had almost arrested a teacher in Keerom Regency.
Head of the Papuan Border and Foreign Cooperation Agency, Suzana Wanggai, said that the report had been submitted by BPKLN to the PNG Consulate in Jayapura.
"Indeed, the case has been reported to the PNG Consulate in Jayapura and will be followed up through discussions between the two countries, including the Nitili area to ascertain whether it is included in the RI or PNG region," he said in Jayapura, Tuesday, June 11, which was confiscated by Antara.
He explained, from the reports received, it was revealed that there was an incident of a teacher who was almost arrested by PNG soldiers while teaching at Nitili Elementary School.
"Hopefully the meeting between the two countries can resolve the case, including the RI-PNG boundary," said Suzana.

Previously, the Keerom Police Chief, AKBP Christian Aer, admitted that he had followed up on reports from three teachers who were almost arrested by PNG soldiers on May 23, 2024.
The teachers escaped by running into the forest, causing PNG soldiers to return to their country by helicopter.
"The case has been reported to the PNG Consulate in Jayapura and at the meeting the Consulate stated that it will follow up and report it to the government in his country," said Keerom Police Chief AKBP Christian Aer.
