HEV Segmen Naik Daun, Genesis GV80 Generasi Lama Akan Hadir Versi Hybrid

JAKARTA - Genesis, a premium automotive brand under the Hyundai Motor Group umbrella, is preparing a pure electric vehicle (EV), one of which is the second generation of GV80. The car, which was originally scheduled for release in 2026, must now be postponed to release in 2028.

The Korean Car Blog reported on Monday, June 10, before introducing the latest generation of brands will introduce the first generation GV80 hybrid version. This step was taken given the demand for electric vehicles that weakened and increased Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) enthusiasts.

Internally, the Hyundai Motor Group is finalizing the GV80 hybrid development and production schedule. A detailed plan for the new hybrid model is expected to be confirmed this month.

It is still unknown whether the car will be the first hybrid model belonging to this premium brand. However, it is possible that the SUV will carry the latest hybrid system, between the EREV or conventional hybrid.

Speaking of the second generation of GV80, the model will only arrive in the third quarter of 2026 to the end of 2027 or early 2028. Thus, this marks a delay of more than a year and a half from the initial plan.

The next second generation of GV80 will use the next generation electric vehicle platform from Hyundai, eM. The first model to use this platform is GV90, which was originally produced at the end of 2025, now postponed to early 2026.

This strategic shift underscores Hyundai Motor Group's adaptive approach to growing market demand, balancing the urgent need for hybrid solutions with long-term commitments to full electrification.

GV80 is Genesis' first Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) style model. This car marked its debut in early 2020 and has now entered its fifth year.

At the end of September last year, the model received a refresher for the South Korean market from the exterior of its design to its interior that looks more charming than ever.
