Elon Musk Denies Rumors Tesla Will Release Model Y Refreshment This Year

JAKARTA - Since the end of last year, after launching the Facelift Model 3 under the name 'Project Highland' Tesla has been rumored to be presenting an update to the Model Y and it is estimated that the crossover will be launched around the middle of this year and debut in China.

Tesla Model Y itself is the global best-selling car by 2023, beating sales of Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Corolla.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Monday, June 10, responding to the rumors, Tesla CEO Elon Musk spoke up on X's official social media website. He even denied that Tesla would not release the updated Model Y this year.

"No Model Y's'refining' comes out this year," Musk said on X, his social media platform.

Elon Musk's statement was based on a reply for a user X named @Curious *****. The account revealed rumors about the refresher of the Tesla Model Y.

"There are rumors circulating that the Model Y refresh will be ready next month, I find it difficult to believe it," wrote the account.

Elon Musk also shared a tweet on Weibo's official website, he uploaded a tweet in Chinese that appeared to be trying to tell potential buyers not to wait for the model in question.

The news that the refresh for the Tesla Model Y is nothing new, is because in March Reuters reported that Tesla was preparing for a modification of Model Y production, which is expected to start production in October 2024.

"The change to the Model Y codenamed the Tesla Project Juniper involves the exterior and interior of the SUV," according to the report.

Based on the information of someone familiar with the matter, said that Tesla has separately requested offers from suppliers for the exterior and interior components for the Juniper version of the Model Y, which will begin production in 2024.
