Entering Kemarau, Two Villages Affected By Drought In Cilacap Regency

JAKARTA - Two villages from two sub-districts in Cilacap Regency, Central Java have been hit by drought, since Saturday afternoon. The drought occurred because it was triggered by the absence of rain that fell in the last few days plus the entry of the dry season in the local area. Based on reports received by BNPB, on Sunday 9 June, as many as 158 families (KK) or 627 people were affected by drought, so it was difficult for residents to access clean water. Two villages in the two affected sub-districts include Ujungmanik Village in Kawunganten District and Rawajaya Village in Bantarsari District. Until this press release was published, BPBD Cilacap Regency was still trying to collect data and monitor affected areas. In addition, emergency handling was also carried out by distributing clean water to residents as an effort to respond quickly. As for clean water distributed as much as 1 tank or 5,000 liters both in Ujungmanik Village and Rawajaya Village. However, based on visual monitoring of the Cilacap Regency BPBD rapid reaction team, a number of residents' wells on Sunday afternoon began to be refilled after the rain fell in some of the existing areas. It is hoped that this can minimize the impact of the clean water crisis that occurred.

The local BPBD also continues to appeal to residents to use clean water efficiently and as needed. Previously, the local government had established a Drought Disaster Emergency Alert status in Cilacap Regency from May 22 to November 22, 2024. The letter issued by the Cilacap Regent was an effort to prepare for what was done to respond to the impact of drought at the start of the dry season.
