KM Umsini Burns Failed To Depart, 1,677 Passengers Get Compensation

PT Pelni provides options or options for 1,677 passengers of KM Umsini in the form of canceling tickets for those who want to cancel tickets with full refunds or 100 percent.

Head of Branch of PT Pelni Makassar Andi Besse Jalante said that his party apologized for the incident experienced by the Umsini Motor Ship (KM).

"First of all we want to apologize for the accident, we don't want this to happen," Andi said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, June 9.

Andi Besse said that after the ship fire incident, there were some passengers who still wanted to continue their journey to the destination city, namely Surabaya, Jakarta and Kijang.

For the passengers who will continue their journey, PT Pelni itself has prepared two other Pelni ships that will be used for passengers.

Meanwhile, passengers who still feel traumatized are given the option to cancel their tickets and return the ticket money in full 100 percent.

"For the handling of passengers themselves, some want to continue and some don't want to continue their journey. Everything will be accommodated by giving a 100 percent ticket cancellation," he said.

Andi Besse stated that PT Pelni will reschedule the affected passenger departure schedule on Tuesday. His party is coordinating with Pelindo.

"We are working with Pelindo to provide a place in Pelindo with a mattress and we will also provide food and drinks, both children and adults," added Andi Besse.

Andi Besse added that the affected passenger needs were also accommodated. Passengers will be given a place to stay at Soekarno Hatta Port in Makassar until the replacement ship arrives.

"So we still guarantee and continue to monitor passengers who will continue their journey until they depart," he said.
