West Java Air Transport Passenger Volume Experiences Increase
JAKARTA - The number of passenger departures for domestic commercial air transportation in West Java in April 2024 was recorded at 18,083 people.
The number of cargo via West Java domestic flights includes goods, baggage, and posts/packages in April 2024 reaching 426.90 tons or an increase of 2.13 percent compared to March 2024.
There are five airports observed by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) that serve flights as air transportation facilities in West Java Province, namely Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung City), West Java Kertajati International Airport (Majalengka Regency), and Nusawiru Airport (Pangandaran Regency).
Next, Cakrabhuwana Penggung Airport (City of Cirebon) and Wiriadinata Airport (Tasikmalaya City). All of these airports serve domestic (domestic) flights.

Head of BPS West Java, Marsudijono, said that in April 2024, the number of domestic flight passengers departing via commercial air transportation from West Java was 18,083 people, an increase of 47.30 percent compared to March 2024 which was recorded at 12,078 people.
According to the departure airport, the number of domestic flight passenger departures in April 2024 was dominated by BIJB Kertajati as many as 18,043 people.
This number increased by 47.45 percent compared to the previous month which was recorded at 12,050 people.
During January-April 2024, the total served by BIJB Kertajati was 62.5 passengers.
Meanwhile, the number of passengers departing from Husein Sastranegara Airport in April 2024 was 76 people.
There are 283 domestic passengers from Nusawiru Airport. 16 passengers departing from Cakrabhuwana Penggung Airport and 23 domestic passengers departing from Wiriadinata Airport.
The development of the number of domestic air transport passengers on year decreased by 47 percent from 35,052 people in April 2023 to 18,083 people in April 2024.
Then in April 2023, the number of domestic air transport passengers was recorded at only four airports.
Meanwhile, in April 2024, the number of domestic air transportation passengers was recorded at five airports, namely Kertajati Airport, Husein Sastranegara, Nusawiru, Wiriadinata, and Cakrabhuwana Penggung.
The increase in the number of passengers at Kertajati Airport will be increasingly visible in the second quarter of 2024 because it is the airport for the departure of Hajj from the West Java group.
BIJB Kertajati began dispatching prospective pilgrims for Hajj 2024 on Sunday, May 12, 2024. There were around 13,000 prospective pilgrims flying from the airport.
The pilgrims came from Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Subang, Sumedang, and Bandung regencies/cities. They are divided into 30 groups.
