Roland Garros 2024: Pavic/Arevalo Beat Vavossori/Bolli In Final

JAKARTA - Mate Pacic/Marcelo Arevalo won the men's doubles for Roland Garros 2024 or the French Open. The pair won two sets, 7-5 and 6-3, over the Italian doubles, Andrea Vavassori/Simone Balolli, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, WIB night.

Pavic/Arevalo's journey to become the champion is fairly smooth. They went through the first round to the quarter-finals with a two-set win.

The first step between the Croatian and El Salvadoran pair has gone through the resistance of Mariano Navene/Roberto Carballes Baena, 6-2 and 6-2.

Pavic/Arevalo didn't even sweat much in the second round. Against them, Marcus Daniell/Mackenzie McDonald withdrew as they fell 0-1 in the first set.

The German doubles, Kevin Krawietz/Tim Putz, became a victim of Pavic/Arevalo in the third round. Despite fierce resistance, Pavic/Arevalo managed to win 7-6 and 7-6.

In the quarter-finals, the Greek pair, Petros Tsitsipas/Stefanos Tsitsipas, also couldn't stop Pavic/Arevalo. The brothers and sisters' doubles were beaten 5-7 and 4-6.

It was only in the semifinals that PAvic / Arenvalo received heavy pressure. Luckily both came back in the second and third sets with a score of 6-4 and 7-5 after losing in the first set 3-6.

For Mate Pavic, the title at Roland Garros 2024 is his fourth Grand Slam trophy in the men's doubles, after the 2018 Australian Open, US Open 2020, and Wimbledon 2021.

Overall, Pavic has collected seven Grand Slam titles, three of which are mixed doubles.

As for Marcelo Arevalo, the 2024 Roland Garros trophy is his first Grand Slam in his career. Previously, the 33-year-old tennis player's furthest achievement was the 2021 US Open finalist.
