2 Suspects In The Rapper C.Gambino Shooting Case Arrested

JAKARTA - Swedish prosecutors have arrested two people suspected of being involved in the murder of hip hop artist C.Gambino, the prosecutor's office said.

C.Gambino, who was hiding his identity and wearing a mask in public, was shot dead in the parking garage on Tuesday, June 4 evening in an alleged gang-related attack in Gothenburg on the west coast of the Nordic country.

The prosecutor has arrested two people on suspicion of assisting and conspiring in the murder, the Swedish Prosecutor's Office said in a statement reported by Reuters on Friday, June 7.

Sweden is known to have struggled for years to stem violence linked to organized crime. The deadly shooting in this country of 10 million people has tripled in the past decade and significantly exceeds the number that has occurred in neighboring countries.

C.Gambino, who prosecutors say is around 25, has nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify streaming service prior to his murder.

Last month C.Gambino won the Swedish Grammis music award for Swedish hip-hop artists in 2023.

On Friday, June 7 according to Spotify, C.Gambino was Sweden's most screened artist on the platform in 24 hours, and its monthly audience rate reached 1.2 million. The late rapper is different from American artist Childish Gambino.
