Gusdurian Hopes The Ministry Of Religion Will Not Eliminate The HKI Juanda Church On UIII Campus Land

Gusdurian helped bridge communication between the management of the HKI Juanda Church and the Rectorate of the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) in Depok, West Java, together with the Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia. The audience regarding the issue of the HKI Juanda church is threatened with being evicted because it stands on UIII land.

Gusdurian hopes that UIII can realize the request that the HKI church is not removed, or not only limited to changing the loss of building questions.

"We hope that the HKI Church will remain in the UIII complex considering that the HKI Juanda congregation still needs a church. If for example this church will be moved to another location, then this congregational friend will not be able to access it for worship," said Gusdurian's representative, Wahyun Della Sari, to VOI, Thursday, June 5.

"We are not asking for compensation, no, but indeed the goal is how the HKI church can still stand in the UIII complex environment," he said.

Wahyun said that the UIII rectorate welcomed the arrival of HKI Juanda, PGI and Gusdurian to convey restlessness and hope. However, because the construction of the UIII campus in Depok is a national project and involves cross-ministerial operations, UIII will report it to the government.

"So this will be discussed the results of today's discussion with the Ministry of Religion, Ministry of ATR/BPN, KSP regarding this situation. Then from UIII also tried to open up another meeting room with the Ministry of Religion, with the relevant ministries on how the HKI Juanda Church continued," explained Wahyun.

Regarding the time of the meeting, Wahyun could not confirm yet. According to him, the hearing plan with the government is still waiting for confirmation.

"There is no exact date for the date yet. Because they still need to be discussed by these parties," he said.

Gusdurian hopes that the state, in this case the Ministry of Religion, which has the authority, can accommodate the expectations of HKI Juanda so that the Church remains in the UIII complex.

"From us in Gusdurian, we really hope that HKI Juanda friends can worship again, and we hope that our friends can be accommodated by UIII and the state," said Wahyun.
