KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari Bungkam After Being Investigated In Immoral Cases

JAKARTA - Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari was reluctant to speak to reporters after attending the trial of the two alleged immoral cases involving him at the Election Organizers Honorary Council office, Jakarta.

Based on ANTARA's observations at the DKPP office, KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari immediately left the journalists who were waiting and wanted to ask for information.

Furthermore, KPU Secretary General Bernad Dermawan Sutrisno who was present as a witness also smiled in response to requests for an interview.

Apart from Bernad, KPU member Betty Epsilon Idroos was also present as a witness, but he left before the trial ended.

Meanwhile, the attorney for the complainant or victim of the alleged immoral case committed by the Chairman of the KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, Aristo Pangaribuan, said that Bernad Dermawan was asked for information about the misuse of facilities and positions as Chairman of the KPU.

The second trial, which is also the last trial of the alleged immoral case with the defendant Chairman of the KPU Hasyim Asy'ari, took place starting at 09.25 WIB and finished at 12.45 WIB.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari was reported to DKPP RI by the Legal Aid Consultation Institute and the Choice of Settlement of Disputes at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-PPS FH UI) and the Legal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Women's Association for Justice (LBH APIK).

The victim's attorney explained that the actions of the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, as a defendant, were included in the violation of the code of ethics based on DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for General Election Organizers.

According to the victim's attorney, the chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, as a defendant, prioritized his personal interests to satisfy his sexual desire for the victim.
