Victims Of Alleged Immorality Of KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari Waiting For DKPP's Decision

JAKARTA - The attorney for the complainant or victim of the alleged immoral case committed by the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari, Aristo Pangaribuan, said the trial process had ended.

"It's closed. So we're waiting for the verdict," said Aristo when giving a press statement at the Office of the Honorary Election Organizers Council (DKPP), Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 6.

He said DKPP in the trial did not mention in detail when the case decision was announced.

"Because deliberation is needed. Usually in three weeks to a month," he said.

The trial agenda, which lasted for about 3.5 hours, tried to explore the abuse of the position facilities carried out by Hasyim.

The trial this Thursday presented KPU Secretary General Bernad Dermawan Sutrisno, and KPU member Betty Epsilon Idroos.

"Those who are indicated to use position facilities for personal interests, personal desires for their subordinates, members of PPLN (foreign election committee)," he explained.

He also explained that the trial could take place quickly or unlike the first trial which lasted about eight hours because the DKPP was considered to have understood the case.

"Now they (DKPP, ed) understand the story. They already know what is being followed up. So, they are immediately technical, the Secretary General is not really like that? There are also many Secretary Generals who are surprised by the behavior of their chairman (Hasyim, ed)," he said.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari was reported to the DKPP by the Legal Aid Consultation Institute and the Choice of Settlement of Disputes at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-PPS FH UI) and the Legal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Women's Association for Justice (LBH APIK).

The victim's attorney explained the actions of KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari as a defendant, including in violations of the code of ethics based on DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for General Election Organizers.

According to the victim's attorney, KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari as a defendant puts personal interests first to satisfy his sexual desire for the victim.

Then, Hasyim underwent his first trial on Wednesday (22/5) which ended at around 17.15 WIB.
