Asking For A Bank Account To Be Opened, SYL Curhat Wants To Be Left Behind By His Attorney

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) requested that the Panel of Judges order the prosecutor to open the blocking of his and his wife's account, Ayun Sri Harahap. Because, there is no longer any income to pay bills.

"Please, I am a civil servant from a lowly level, I have never had a job other than ASN. Therefore, sir (the judge) I beg you to ask for my account or my wife to be opened," said SYL during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday, June 5.

One of the bills that must be paid includes the services of his legal advisor, Djamaluddin Koedoeboen, who has accompanied him in dealing with cases of alleged extortion and receiving gratuities.

"I can't pay this (legal power). They want to leave me all. I'm not playing with this, sir (the judge)," he said.

Not only that, SYL also said that he needed the money to pay for personal needs and his daily family.

"Please consider you, especially our lives and specifically to pay (the power of law) maybe this is just a humanitarian consideration, sir," said SYL.

In this case, SYL was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period.

This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
