Google Disburses IDR 244 Billion Fund For AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific

JAKARTA - In the 25 years since Google was founded, technology has produced many of the most likely major transformations felt in Asia-Pacific.

Moreover, the presence of AI is thought to have the potential to accelerate digital progress and help solve some of the most pressing challenges in the region.

Seeing the positive impact of AI implementation in agriculture, climate, and disease detection in Asia. Google still regrets where there are still many people who lack the skills to take full advantage of this opportunity.

For this reason, through the new funding of the AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific of US$15 million (Rp244 billion) supported by Google.org, Google will invest in developing key skills in the AI sector and building the confidence of workers and job seekers, especially from underserved communities throughout the region.

This effort complements Google's already running digital skills and AI initiatives in Asia-Pacific, such as AI Essentials for beginners, AI Startup School for entrepreneurs, and Google Cloud AI programs for businesses.

In collaboration with the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), a social investor network, and backed by the Asian Development Bank, the fund will invite proposals from social impact organizations that can help us reach the people who are most likely to benefit from AI training.

AVPN will cooperate with local partners, selected through an open proposal invitation, to identify specific challenges and opportunities related to AI for underserved job seekers as well as micro and small businesses in the region.

The selected organization will receive AI support in local languages to help them provide skills training directly to their respective communities.
