Ragunan Zoo Is Open Until Tomorrow, Visitors Are Strictly Prohibited From Crowding Out
JAKARTA - After stopping its operational activities, Ragunan Zoo, located in South Jakarta, has been reopened to the public by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government starting today Saturday, March 13.
Head of the Ragunan Zoo Promotion Unit Head Ketut Widarsana said the reopening of operational services was in accordance with Governor Decree No. 213/2021 concerning the extension of Restrictions On Community Activity (PPKM).
"Today we recorded around 1.300 visitors who came to Ragunan Zoo by motorbikes, four-wheeled private vehicles, bicycles, and public transportation", he said in a statement, Saturday, March 13.
Ketut added, his party enforces fairly strict health protocols for all visitors and also officers who come to the area belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
"For example, a group of more than 5 people is not allowed and we will prevent it. Sitting on a chair is okay, but still, keep your distance, we have arranged it by attaching a boundary mark, a cross on the chair so we maintain distance", he said.
He also ensured that Ragunan Zoo operates according to schedule like before the pandemic period, which is Tuesday-Sunday every week.
"Except for Monday, we are closed because it provides opportunities for animals to rest. The rest is open", he added.
In order to prevent the occurrence of a new pandemic cluster, Ketut said that his party also limits the number of visitors who would come.
"We limit about 50 percent of the maximum capacity, which is 5.000 people, with 30 people on duty and 10 security personnel", he said.

Even though it was closed for a long time, he made sure that the animals were in a well-preserved condition.
“There are about 2.200 animals here and all of them are in good condition and there is no shortage of food. This is all thanks to the support of the DKI Jakarta Regional Budget which is the financial foundation of Ragunan Zoo", he explained.
Even though they have returned to activities, the management has imposed several provisions in this new normal era, including children aged 0-9 years, pregnant women, and seniors over 60 years old are prohibited from visiting.
Then, people are required to buy tickets online one day before visiting via the @Ragunanzoo Instagram account.
