Mayor Bobby Keeps Working Normalizing Trenches On Weekend: To Prevent Floods When It Rains
JAKARTA - The Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution, does not want the normalization of the trenches in Medan to drag on. For that, even though it was on the weekend, normalization continued.
Bobby, who went directly to the field, said that the normalization of the trenches is very important. Because it is believed to be able to prevent flooding when the rain comes.
"Saturday-Sunday or weekends are not an excuse to postpone the normalization of the trenches in Medan", Bobby said on his Instagram account @bobbynst quoted on Saturday, March 13.
This son-in-law of President Joko Widodo said, since leading the city of Medan, he has carried out several normalizations of trenches. Among others are in the District of East Medan, Medan Perjuangan, Medan Denai, Medan Area, and Medan Amplas.
"From my direct observation in the field, in the trenches that are currently under normalization, there is a lot of high sedimentation. As a result, if normalization is not carried out, it can only hold water for approximately 1 meter", said Bobby.

In the future, apart from normalizing the trenches, the buildings that are standing on the trench must also be moved immediately so that they no longer disturb the drainage system.
"And finally, in the flood prevention program, a collaboration between Medan City Government, the authorities in the upstream area, the Provincial Government and the Central Government is urgently needed", he said.
