BPS Reveals Annual Inflation Reaches 2.84 Percent
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that in May 2024 there was an inflation of 2.84 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) and an annual calendar or year to date (ytd) inflation of 1.16 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (IHK) of 106.37.
Acting (Plt) Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the annual inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indices, namely food, beverage and tobacco groups by 6.18 percent, clothing and footwear groups by 1.10 percent, housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.54 percent.
"The household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group is 0.85 percent, the health group is 2.06 percent, the transportation group is 1.34 percent, the recreation, sports and culture group is 1.60 percent," he explained at a press conference, Monday, June 3.
Furthermore, the education group was 1.71 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group was 2.51 percent; and other personal care and services groups were 4.99 percent.
Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decline in the index was: information, communication, and financial services groups by 0.16 percent.

Amalia said that the highest annual provincial inflation occurred in Central Papua Province at 5.39 percent with a CPI of 110.25 and the lowest occurred in the Provinces of the Bangka Belitung Islands and West Sulawesi at 1.25 percent with CPI respectively at 104.27 and 105.46.
Meanwhile, the highest annual district/city inflation occurred in Nabire Regency at 7.58 percent with a CPI of 112.25 and the lowest occurred in Majene Regency at 0.63 percent with a CPI of 105.87.
Meanwhile, the annual deflation occurred in West Bangka Regency at 0.09 percent with a CPI of 102.47.
