Paraguay Government Seizes 2,738 Illegal Crypto Mining Units In Salto Del Guair

The Paraguayan government has carried out confiscation operations of thousands of illegal crypto mining units at Salto del Guairmen. This action came after the National Electricity Administration (ANDE) succeeded in detecting unmeasured electrical connections in the region.

According to ADE, the action was carried out after the use of artificial intelligence and analysis of electricity distribution to identify electrical theft which is estimated to be worth 1.1 billion guarani per month. In addition to confiscating thousands of crypto mining units, the government also secured five transformers at the site.

This operation is part of the Paraguay government's efforts to take firm action against illegal crypto mining activities in the country. In May, at least two similar operations were carried out in Salta del Guairmen. All government actions involve various institutions, including the National Police.

Paraguay was previously known as a popular crypto mining site because of its abundant electricity supply from the Itaipu Dam power plant on the Paran secretery River. However, crypto mining activities in Paraguay are not supported by a strong legal basis. Although there have been efforts to certify crypto regulations, until now there has been no final decision.

The existence of crypto mining in Paraguay has also been debated, especially after the government proposed a ban on crypto mining activities and other crypto assets. However, until now, there has been no final decision regarding this matter.

Currently, Paraguay remains home to a number of large crypto mining facilities, although its existence is threatened by a ban plan proposed by the government.
