Bachtiar Nasir Hopes Jokowi And The Indonesian People Are More Committed To Defending Palestine
JAKARTA - Bachtiar Nasir, the Coordinator of the Palestinian Defense Action, voiced his hopes in the demonstration demanding justice for the Palestinian people. He hopes that the Indonesian government will continue to support and urge Israel to stop its faith.
"We ask President Jokowi to show the world that Indonesia can be at the forefront of defending Palestine and upholding justice in Gaza," Bachtiar Nasir said during a speech in front of the United States Embassy in Jakarta, Saturday.
Bachtiar Nasir said that by continuing to echo support for Palestine, it is hoped that it can provide strength for them and open the eyes of the world regarding the suffering of Palestinians.
He also advised President-elect Prabowo Subianto to take this opportunity to defend the weak because the Indonesian people love Palestine.
"To the Minister of Defense, who is the President-elect, this is an opportunity to show the Indonesian world as the main supporter of Palestine," he said.
On that occasion, Bachtiar also invited all people to echo the boycott of Israeli products which are currently starting to recede. "Let's boycott Israeli products until they go bankrupt," he said.
At the oration, Bachtiar Nasir stated that the world no longer believes in the United States in terms of human rights enforcement because it continues to support Israel to attack civilians in Palestine.
Apart from Bachtiar Nasir, a number of Indonesian artists also participated in the Palestinian Defense Action which was held in front of the US Embassy (Kedubes). They invite the public to continue to call for Palestinian freedom even through social media.
