President: SPALDT Bambu Pekanbaru Serves 11,000 Home Connections
PEKANBARU - President Joko Widodo said the Bambu Kuning centralized domestic waste water management system (SPALDT) with a capacity of 8,000 m3 per day is capable of serving 11,000 household connections in Pekanbaru City, Riau.
"This is very good so that we can manage the quality of water in Pekanbaru in the future," said President Joko Widodo when inaugurating SPALDT Bambu Kuning, in Pekanbaru City, reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 31.
At the inauguration of the wastewater management facility in Pekanbaru, President Joko Widodo also asked the public to make good use of this waste management infrastructure to improve the quality of water services in Pekanbaru City and the environment to stay clean and healthy.
The President appreciated the cooperation between government agencies and international assistance in the realization of the Bambu Kuning SPALDT, which was built in 2020 at a cost of Rp902 billion from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), APBN and APBD.
President Jokowi emphasized that the existence of SPALDT is important in maintaining the environment and water quality for the future of Pekanbaru City.

"Today the people of Pekanbaru City have a centralized wastewater management system to process wastewater in Pekanbaru City, maintain water environment, maintain groundwater quality, maintain raw water that we have," said the President.
With the inauguration of this system, it is hoped that there will be an improvement in the quality of life of the Pekanbaru community and keeping the environment clean and healthy.
"I ask that the wastewater management infrastructure is really used as well as possible to improve the quality of water services in Pekanbaru City and our environment so that it remains clean and healthy," said the President ending his remarks.
Meanwhile, domestic waste processed comes from people's homes, hotels, shopping centers sourced from bathrooms, toilets and kitchens will be channeled through a pipeline network along 52 KM. The pipeline passes through 4 sub-districts in Pekanbaru, namely Sukajadi District, Senapelan District, Pekanbaru City District, and Limapuluh District.
