Supporting Game Industry Development In Indonesia, Agate Launches Agate Game Course For Teachers

JAKARTA - Agate Academy, part of Agate International, supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko Marves), announced the launch of the Agate Game Course for Teachers.

Agate Academy launched Agate Game Course for Teachers is a program intended to accelerate the Indonesian game industry ecosystem through the development of quality talent.

This program was created to support one of the programs launched in the policy, namely the increase in human resources in the game industry, in line with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 19 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of National Game Industry Development.

Where through this policy, the government plans to involve educational institutions to train 1,200 workers, especially game developers with the aim of developing 3 to 5 leading multi-player-based games.

"We certainly welcome and support Agate's initiative, in line with the various efforts that continue to be made by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and all relevant Ministries/Institutions, especially in increasing the education standards for game development in Indonesia through the quality of its national talent, in this case the teachers," said Plt. Assistant Deputy for Creative Economy Development Liz Zeny Merry of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

According to Liz, the Indonesian game industry still has a major challenge in the form of local developers who only control 0.5 percent of the national market. Therefore, collaborative efforts with local developers and stakeholders are the main keys.

Through the Agate Game Course for Teachers, teachers will get upskilling/reskilling programs using a curriculum that refers to SKKNI No. 18 of 2022, including the use of engine games (Game Programming), 3D modeling and animation (Game Art), as well as mechanical and level designs (Game Design).

This training is divided into two types, namely Standard and Custom Training. Standard Training will be held online for 5x meetings with 3 hours per meeting with a minimum of 10 participants. Meanwhile, Custom training will be conducted online/offline/hybrid with a duration and number of discussions.

"Through the Agate Academy, we continue to strive to contribute by strategically increasing the capacity of teachers, collaborating with governments and educational institutions," said Agate Shieny Aprilia Co-Founder and CEO.
