Sergio Perez Will Get A New Contract From Red Bull, Carlos Sainz Bites Fingers

JAKARTA - Sergio Perez will reportedly get a new contract with Red Bull to defend his seat in Formula 1 (F1) for the 2025 season.

Despite his recent difficulties and failures at the F1 Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna and Monaco, according to Motorsport, the Mexican is still seen as the best candidate present to pair up with reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

Perez was eliminated in Q2 at GP Emilia Romagna and could only move up to eighth after a hard struggle.

He once again struggled to get the best speed at Monaco. Unfortunately, ending the race after being involved in an accident with Kevin Magnussen on the first lap.

However, Red Bull Chief Christian Horner has repeatedly shown that he is still impressed by the good start of the season from Perez.

Horner revealed that Perez's last race was just a mistake.

"This weekend was brutal to him. Obviously we need to make sure that both of our cars score points because we can't ignore the threat of Ferrari and McLaren."

"However, in Perez's first six races, he was very strong, qualified in the front row and finished second and third. We just need to get back to our confidence and not see a drop," Horner said.

Horner further confirmed that Perez's recent struggle will not affect decision-making for next season.

"Not really. I think it's more of a time for us. We'll make the decision right on time," he said again.

Meanwhile, Red Bull's adviser, Helmut Marko, indicated that the team could complete a contract agreement at the Spanish Grand Prix F1 in June 2024.

"I think at Barcelona we should have a clear picture. In my opinion, we should have had a clear idea at that time," Marko said at Motorsport.

The leak of plans for next season also provides an illustration that Red Bull is most likely not considering promoting Yuki Tsunoda.

In addition, the decision dealt a crushing blow to Carlos Sainz. Previously, he was predicted to be a candidate for Red Bull next season to accompany Verstappen.

Red Bull wants to let it go smoothly that Carlos Sainz is not a candidate for the 2025 season.
