King Salman Returns To Duty After Undergoing Pneumonia Treatment

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud returned to duty by chairing a weekly cabinet meeting after undergoing pneumonia treatment, according to Al Ekhbariya media.

Together with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Salman reportedly attended a virtual meeting.

[King Salman] expressed his gratitude to the people of Saudi Arabia for their good health hopes and prayers," according to a cabinet message obtained by Al Ekhbariya.

The king also thanked all the leaders of friendly countries who had prayed for him and offered prayers for healing, health and happiness to the King.

On May 19, the Saudi Arabian royal office said King Salman was hospitalized in Jeddah for medical examination due to high fever and joint pain.

Based on the results of the doctor's examination, King Salman has pneumonia and needs to be given antibiotic drugs.

King Salman, 88, has been on the throne since 2015 at the age of 79.

Pneumonia is lung inflammation caused by infection and can cause mild to severe symptoms. The main causes are viral, bacterial, or fungal infections.

These disorders can cause fever or swelling cough, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. Infections caused by pneumonia can occur on either side of the lungs or both.
