Camry Fans In The US Create Petitions To Toyota To Restore V6 Machines

JAKARTA - The latest generation of Toyota Camry has been officially sold in the United States (US) market For the first time, this model is offered only in the hybrid variant and removes the V6 engine option while expanding the company's electrification lineup.

Unfortunately, Toyota's decision to remove the 6-cylinder machine was not approved by a number of Camry fans. In fact, they demanded that the manufacturer return the V6 option to Camry in 2026.

Reporting from CarBuzz, Tuesday, May 28, the Camry fan made a petition on Change.org but only received a little support. So far, the petition has been signed with 103 supports.

One of the fans of this series and who started the petition, Andrew Hyunh, hopes that the company from Japan will introduce a 6-cylinder machine in the future side by side with a hybrid option.

"Camry Hybrid can survive, but the medium size option with gasoline power for the 9th generation must bring back the V6 engine," Andrew said.

The 6-cylinder machine option was last presented in the eighth generation. Having a larger heart runway capacity of 3.5 liters V6, this luxury sedan can run with a power of 301 dk and a torque of 362 Nm.

With the front wheel drive, Camry with the V6 engine is claimed to be able to run from 0 to 97 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. This also makes him one of the powerful luxury sedans Toyota has ever presented in the Camry series.

Meanwhile, the latest generation of Camry equipped with a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine combined with a fifth generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5) and eCVT transmission, allowed it to run with 225 dk of power for FWD and 232 dk on AWD.

While there are doubts that Toyota will revive this option, there is a potential that Camry will be offered in the form of plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This option is offered on Crown with a more powerful engine.

As an illustration, Crown with this system has a 2.4 liter turbocharged engine yielding 340 dk of power and 542 Nm of torque or more powerful than Camry V6. According to the company's claim, Crown PHEV can run 0-97 km/hour in 5.7 seconds.
