Agam Extends Emergency Response Period For Mount Marapi's Cold Lava Flood
The Agam Regency Government, West Sumatra, has extended the emergency response period for the cold lava flood of Mount Marapi for the next 14 days and the focus on recovering various sectors."The emergency response period agrees that we will extend it by 14 days until June 8, 2024," said Head of the Agam Communication and Information Service, Syatria in Lubuk Basung, Antara, Sunday, May 26.The decision to extend the emergency response period for the cold lava flood of Mount Marapi and the Mount Singgalang flash flood during a coordination meeting to deal with the reduction of the Galodoh disaster risk (Demolish, DAS Normalization, Saba Dam and EWS) at Mess Pemkab Agam Behind Balok, last Saturday.The meeting was attended directly by Agam Regional Secretary Edi Busti, together with BNPB and various other elements. The extension was due to suggestions, inputs, and considerations from various parties such as Forkopimda, BMKG and other related institutions.Currently, there are still many houses that need to be cleaned from materials such as large stones in the river canals originating from Mount Marapi."The affected residents also still need help. We focus on recovery during the extension of this emergency response period," he said.Meanwhile, the Head of the Agam Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Budi Perwiranegara added that the main emergency response post is currently at the Sungai Pua Sub-district Office. Previously, the main post was at SDN 08 Simpang Bugakik, Candung District.
Agam Regent Andri Warman expressed his gratitude for the support from BNPB and various parties as well as the community who took part in working hard in handling the post-disaster recovery.
