The Minister Of Communication And Information Affirms That The Government Continues To Collect Starlinks To Open Offices In Indonesia
JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized that the government continues to collect internet service providers belonging to Elon Musk, Starlink, to open the head office of its operating network in Indonesia.Considering that currently Starlink has pocketed an operating-worthy test certificate (ULO) and officially runs its business in Indonesia. "We ask to continue with the completeness of the process. We are in the process, we will continue to evaluate monitoring. He is already set up, we will only check it, we will see," said Budi Arie in a virtual press conference, Friday, May 24. Budi admitted that he still gave the satellite-based internet service provider the opportunity to prepare the central office of their operating network or network operation center (NOC). "It's only been one month for them to operate. Wait, how will they evaluate this per 3 months," he said. Budi Arie claims that his party will also ensure that Starlink cooperates with Indonesian internet service providers, technology development, and local capacity development. "It's all very important to ensure the equal playing field in the Indonesian telecommunications industry and of course for the sake of inclusive internet services for all Indonesian people," said Budi Arie.
