The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Calls The Indonesian Energy Intensity Average 3 Percent In The Last Decade

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said that the progress in increasing energy efficiency in Indonesia was quite good compared to other G20 countries. Where, with an average energy intensity development of 3 percent in the last decade.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana said that Indonesia continues to increase its efficiency energy policy actions, including by revising Government Regulation (PP) Number 33 of 2023 concerning Energy Conservation which is a guide for implementing energy efficiency measures in industrial sectors, buildings, and transportation.

"The progress of Indonesia's development in increasing energy efficiency is quite good compared to other G20 countries, with an average energy intensity development of 3 percent in the last decade," Dadan quoted Antara as saying.

The government is also expanding the implementation of an energy management system in the industrial sector by covering 450 industry-intensive players estimated at around 5.28 million TOE (Tonne Oil Equivalent) energy savings in the industrial sector by 2030.

In the building sector, the government strengthens the implementation of building regulations as well as the implementation of green and smart buildings.

He stated that more than 700 buildings will implement an energy management system next year, and an estimated 66 thousand TOE of energy savings from buildings by 2030.

"In increasing energy efficiency in the transportation sector, the government encourages the use of electric vehicles as well as regulating fuel economic standards. By 2030, the government is targeting the use of 2 million units of four-wheeled electric vehicles and 13 million two-wheeled electric vehicles," he said.

According to him, the government's steps to realize energy efficiency are appreciated by the International Energy Agency (IEA). On the other hand, the government also appreciates the long-standing cooperation with the IEA.

"We appreciate the cooperation that has been established so far, especially in the Joint Work Program (JWP) 2022-2023 and we are committed to continuing closer cooperation in JWP 2024-2025," said Dadan.
