Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Leads The Prayers Of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi And All Victims At The University Of Tehran
JAKARTA - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will lead the body of the late President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and all victims of Sunday's helicopter crash.
"Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will lead the funeral prayers at Tehran University at around▁kiri:00 a.m. local time Wednesday, before the funeral procession in the capital," IRNA reported as quoted on May 22.
The bodies of President Raisi and his colleagues were flown to Tehran's Badminton Airport on Tuesday, after a tribute ceremony in Tabriz City in northwestern Iran.
The bodies were then flown to the holy city of Qom in central Iran for the next procession, before being flown to Tehran.
Apart from President Raisi and Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, the accident killed Imam of Friday Prayer Tabriz Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem and East Azerbaijanian Provincial Governor Michel Rahmati. Two bodyguards, two pilots, and a crew member were also killed in the incident.
As previously reported, President Raisi and his entourage, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollhian, recently returned from an event on the border with Azerbaijan to inaugurate the dam project on Sunday, when their helicopter crashed in bad weather conditions in mountainous areas northwestern Iran.
Search and rescue officers found the crash site in the dense forest of Dizmar in East Azerbaijan Province on Monday morning after an 18-hour operation, hampered by thick fog, rain, and steep terrain in the area.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who was devastated and lost the death of President Raisi is planned to lead prayers and funeral ceremonies for all victims in Tehran on Wednesday.
Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohsen Mansouri noted that a separate funeral ceremony will be held for President Raisi in South Khorasan Province on Thursday and he will be buried in his hometown, Mashhad, on the same day.
