Who Have Been In The Big Six Premier League Since Pep Guardiola Arrived

JAKARTA - Pep Guardiola has just set a record with Manchester City. He brought The Citizens to be the first team to win the Premier League for four consecutive seasons.

Since Guardiola's arrival, the UK's highest level competition has become more attractive.

Manchester City can break the dominance of clubs that have already been in the top ranks, such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

During eight seasons at the Etihad, Guardiola earned six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups, two Community Shields, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one Club World Cup.

Interestingly, Guardiola's arrival to British soil presents a new competition map. Since arriving at the Etihad, there have been six clubs that are considered to be in the top group of the Premier League aka Big Six.

Apart from Manchester City, there are Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal.

If you count their eight-season points since Guardiola arrived or in 2016, Manchester City is at the top of the Big Six table.

Here's The Big Six Table Since 2016

6. Manchester United - 549 points

Despite two second-placed finishes since 2016, Manchester United have their lowest points tally with Big Six clubs.

The Red Devils recorded their lowest position in eighth place in the 2023/2024 Premier League.

Man United also won the fewest match with 158 wins during Guardiola's time at City.

5. Chelsea - 549 Points

Chelsea have won the league and finished in the lower half of the season.

Since winning the league in 2016/2017, the Blues have never finished higher than third.

Chelsea are on par with Manchester United with 161 wins, 66 draws, and 77 defeats. However, they have a goal difference of +36.

4. Tottenham Hotspur - 552 Points

Tottenham Hotspur are only three points ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea. However, they have the record of losing the most to any club with 84 defeats.

Finishing fifth in the 2023/2024 Premier League is an improvement over last season when Spurs ended their eighth-placed trip.

They previously finished four times in the top four, including twice in fourth place (2018/2019 and 2021/2022), one third ladder (2017/2018), and one runner-up in the first season of Guardiola or 2016/2017.

3. Arsenal - 567 Points

Guardiola's son, Mikel Arteta, has turned Arsenal into a title challenger during his tenure.

Finishing runners-up for two consecutive seasons has earned the Gunners 567 points in the last eight seasons.

The Gunners also won 171 wins and 79 of their defeats were only lower than Spurs in the same period.

2. Liverpool - 657 Points

Prior to Arsenal's appearance, Liverpool continued to press City for three consecutive seasons.

The competition between Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp also earned Liverpool the title in 2019/2020, the only season that damaged City's two consecutive Premier League trophies under Guardiola.

Liverpool have only lost one game more than City over the past eight years. The Reds also ranked second in terms of winning, goals and goal difference.

1. Manchester City - 716 Points

Six Manchester City titles in eight seasons have earned them 225 games and scored 755 goals.

Guardiola's side are also now the first English club to win four consecutive league titles.
