Boby's Son-in-law Joins The Gerindra Party, This Is Jokowi's Response

AGAM - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responded briefly to the joining of the Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, who is also the son-in-law of the President, Bobby Nasution, to the Gerindra Party.

"He is an adult, his responsibilities and independence are in him," said President Joko Widodo while visiting victims of cold lava floods in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, May 21.

When asked further by the mass media crew whether Bobby had consulted him before joining Gerindra, the former mayor of Solo suggested that he immediately ask the person concerned.

"Asked directly to the person concerned, yes," said the President.

Finally, President Jokowi said that as a parent he could only wish him the best. "Parents can only pray," the President emphasized.

On that occasion, the President also emphasized that his relationship with the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, who is also the son of Megawati Soekarnoputri, was fine.

This can be seen when President Joko Widodo opened the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) event on the island of Bali. The Head of State had a chance to talk until she looked happy with Puan Maharani.

When asked further whether this closeness was a form of signaling the reconciliation process between the President and the PDIP General Chair, Jokowi only replied that so far he had long been close to Puan Maharani.

For information, President Jokowi together with the First Lady and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Presidential Military Secretary Major General Rudy Saladin, Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Achiruddin and Plt. Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Presidential Secretariat M. Yusuf Permana visited the Minang area.

The visit was related to the cold lava flood disaster of Mount Marapi which hit a number of areas in West Sumatra Province and killed at least 61 people.
