Jokowi Hopes That The Death Of President Ebrahim Raisi Will Not Affect The Global Economy

AGAM - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi hopes that the tragedy of the crash of the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday, May 19, will not have an impact on the global economy, including world oil prices.

"First, the government and the people of Indonesia express their deep condolences for the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in the helicopter crash he was traveling in," said President Joko Widodo as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 21.

This was conveyed by Joko Widodo on the sidelines of his working visit to West Sumatra Province to directly inspect the locations affected by the cold lava disaster of Mount Marapi in Agam Regency and Tanah Datar Regency.

The head of state hopes that the unfortunate tragedy will not have a direct impact on the world economy, especially those related to oil prices. Jokowi is worried that if oil prices rise, it will affect many things.

"If the price of oil has increased, it is affected by the incident, it is feared that there will be an increase in the price of goods and others," said Joko Widodo.

During a working visit to Ranah Minang, President Jokowi was accompanied by the First Lady and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Presidential Military Secretary Major General Rudy Saladin, Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Achiruddin, and Acting Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Presidential Secretariat M. Yusuf Permana.

To note, the helicopter carrying President Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and a number of other officials crashed in Varzaqan, East Azerbaijan Province, Sunday (19/5).

The incident occurred when President Raisi and his entourage were on their way to Tabriz City after inaugurating the Qiz Qalasi Dam in the Khoda Afarin area, East Azerbaijan Province, which is directly adjacent to Azerbaijan, last Saturday.
