OKU Regency Government Immediately Repairs Talut Jebol Diterjang Banjir
OKU - The Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency Government, South Sumatra, immediately repaired the talut in Karang Lantang Village, Muara Jaya District which collapsed due to flooding some time ago.Acting OKU Regent Teddy Meilwansyah said the flood disaster that occurred in his area on Tuesday last week not only submerged tens of thousands of houses, but also damaged a number of public facilities including talut in local villages."Today we are reviewing the location to ensure the condition of the talut so that improvement steps can be taken," he said in Baturaja, Antara, Monday, May 20.According to him, the current condition of the talut is quite severe after being hit by floods due to overflowing water from the Ogan River. For this reason, he has instructed the OKU PUPR Service to immediately make improvements so that the island in Karang Lantang Village is not completely eroded by river water."I have asked the PUPR Service to see and survey how much budget is needed so that this year we will build a new talut," he said.
According to Teddy, the existence of the talut is very necessary in addition to holding water, it can also be used by local people as a natural tourist spot."The construction of the new talut is sought to be built as soon as possible, as well as a tourist spot for the surrounding community," he said.
