Residents Are Advised To Be Alert To Fall Lava Earthquake Tremor Mount Ile NTT
LEMBATA- The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded a continuous tremor that occurred on Mount Ile Lewotolok in Lembata, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Tremortinuous activity occurred due to volcanic activity in the form of magma or lava melting movements. Trends of continuous tremors on Mount Ile Lewotolok have occurred since the presence of lava flows in the new direction, namely the western sector. The Geological Agency also noted that the tremors had occurred since May 14, 2024. Stanislaus said the new lava flow to the western sector has now reached a distance of 1.2 km. Based on the evaluation of the Geological Agency from observations for the period 8-15 May 2024, the activity of the mountain eruption is relatively high. The level of activity of the mountain is also maintained at level III or Alert with several recommendations.Regarding potential threats or lava avalanches, the Geological Agency asked the public, visitors and tourists not to enter and carry out activities as far as three kilometers each in the southern, southeast, and western sectoral regions.
