Trial Of Alleged Extortion And Gratification Of SYL Continues Today
JAKARTA - The Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court has again held a follow-up hearing in the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities at the Ministry of Agriculture, today.
In this case, there were three defendants, namely Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL as former Minister of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono who is a former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Muhammad Hatta as Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"(Today's trial agenda) witness examination," wrote the Central Jakarta District Court Case Investigation Information System, quoted Monday, May 20.
The witness at the trial will be the parties presented by the Public Prosecutor (JPU). However, it is not yet known who will provide the information.
At the previous trial or May 15, 2024, the prosecutor presented five witnesses, two of whom were director-general, namely the Director-General of Food Crops at the Ministry of Agriculture, Suwandi and the Director-General of Horti Ministry of Agriculture, Prihasto Setyanto.
Meanwhile, three other witnesses are the Head of the General Division of the Director General of Horti Kementan, Andi Muhammad Idil Fitri; Head of the General Section of the Director General of Food Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture, Edi Eko Sasmito; and the Secretary General of Food Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture, Bambang Pamuji.

In this case, Syahrul Yasin Limpo allegedly extorted his employees of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.
This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
