Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X: Land Of Village Cash For People's Welfare, Not To Enrich Yourself
YOGYAKARTA - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, emphasized to the village heads in his area to use village treasury land (TKD) for the welfare of the people, not for personal gain. This was conveyed by Sultan HB X during a meeting with the Village Head Association and Pamong Kalurahan DIY "Nanataka" in Yogyakarta on May 18.
"The village land is not for the sake of enriching oneself. Do not rent it out to other people or foreigners for their own benefit, but even the people are passed," said Sultan HB X, quoted from the official website of the Yogyakarta Regional Government in Yogyakarta, Sunday, May 19.
Sultan HB X emphasized that he would not protect the village head who abused village land. He hopes that village land can improve people's welfare by prioritizing the poor and unemployed.
He also proposed using the village land in rotation with a span of three to four years. "Please help the poor, unemployed people, to rent the village land," he said.
Sri Sultan hopes that some village treasury lands will be provided for the poor and unemployed, so that with the help of privileged funds, new jobs will grow in the village. That way, the assumption that work only exists in the city will be lost because villagers are able to be independent, have jobs or businesses by utilizing village land.

"Learn to areas that have already succeeded in managing village land, to Nglanggeran, Mangunan, Gedangsari, Breksi and Kaliurang," he said.
Sultan also emphasized the importance of accountability in each kelurahan or karahran which will be seen from the openness of the village government in accounting for reports on the use of the APBN and APBD every year. He appealed to every kelurahan or sub-district to be able to publish its APBD accountability through newspapers as a form of public accountability.
"That is a form of public accountability," explained Sri Sultan.
