Defender Matsmen Crossed Out, Nagelsmann Enters Four German Goalkeepers At Euro 2024

JAKARTA - German coach Julian Nagelsmann has determined the starting squad to compete at Euro 2024. Nagelsmann made a surprise by crossed out the Borussia Dortmund center-back Matsxides. Instead, he included four goalkeepers in the tournament that was held in his own country.

URs became the determinant of Dortmund's victory in the second match of the Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain. Dortmund won 1-0 anderos scored the only goal in the match.

Dortmund also slid to the final after winning 2-0 on aggregate. In the third final in club history, Dortmund met European ruler Real Madrid who had won 15 times.

However, Nagelsmann still did not include him who was actually one of the best center-backs at Dortmund. The 36-year-old also brought Germany to become champions in the 2014 World Cup.

But his age was no longer young, so Nagelsmann chose defender Eintracht Frankfurt Robin Koch who was included in the squad. From the 2017 World Cup squad, only Thomas Mueller, Toni Kroos and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer remain.

Neuer is one of four goalkeepers prepared by Nagelsmann. There are 27 players who have been called in and one that will be crossed out to meet the 26-player quota.

Neuer is not only competing with Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen who once declared it more appropriate to be Germany's number one goalkeeper but also Alexander Nuebel (VfB Stuttgart) and Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim).

"We put forward four goalkeepers and took them all to the Euros. Nuebel deserves to be nominated," said Nagelsmann.

"Why are the four goalkeepers? We still need the goalkeeper during training. Previously, Manuel didn't get it. In addition, we can still arrange training. During training, it means there are 22 players on the field. I can manage it well. If there are 20 players because someone is absent, we can still undergo training well," he said.

Nagelsmann has not made many changes to the players he has been calling since the last seven months.

Moreover, the team showed an increasing performance in the previous test match when they won against France and the Netherlands in the test match.

The former Bayern Munich coach also maintains young players, one of whom is Aleksandar Pavlovic.

The 20-year-old Bayern midfielder is actually absent from the trial match throughout March due to injury. However, Pavlovic is still called Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann, who signed Hansi Flick, also gave the Bayer Leverkusen players who won the German Bundesliga. Those called Robert Andrich, Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah.

Germany, which is in Group A Euro 2024, competes with Hungary, Scotland, and Switzerland. They played their first match against Scotland, June 14, 2024.
