More Aggressive, BNI Amsterdam Pursues Subsidiary Status

AMSTERDAM - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has officially opened a representative office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands to expand the market or market in the Netherlands.

This step is based on seeing the potential of the Dutch diaspora business which is quite large.

BNI Human Capital & Compliance Director Mucharom said that BNI Amsterdam currently has the status of a representative office under BNI London.

Therefore, next year it is targeting to get a license or status as a subsidiary.

With this license, Mucharom said BNI Amsterdam could expand even deeper to expand the market or market in the Netherlands.

"Here in Amsterdam, today we are still representative office. We are indeed targeting that next year we can get a license for a subsidiary so that we can work on more business potential," he said when met at BNI Amsterdam, Netherlands, Thursday, May 17.

According to Mucharom, Europe has very high business potential. Therefore, BNI Amsterdam was founded in 2022. Especially in Amsterdam itself, he said, the potential is approximately 10 percent of the population from the Netherlands.

"It's more or less realeted with Indonesia. So we're trying to capture the business," he explained.

Mucharom also said that SOE Minister Erick Thohir gave a mandate to BNI to become a state-owned bank that goes global. Especially for BNI Amsterdam, Erick asked to optimize BNI banking businesses in Europe by supporting the businesses of diaspora in the Netherlands.

"The direction of the Minister is that indeed BNI is directed as one of the globally oriented banks to better capture business potentials related to Indonesia's interests as well," he explained.
