Spain Will Not Allow Weapons Carriers For Israel To Stop At Its Port
JAKARTA - Secretary of State Jose Manuel Albares said on Friday Spain would not allow ships carrying weapons for Israel to dock at its port, after the country refused to allow a ship to dock at the southeastern port of Cartagena.
The ship was the first ship to be denied entry to Spain's port, Foreign Minister Albares said, adding the refusal was consistent with the government's decision not to grant Israel arms export permits since October 7, as Spain did not "wanted to contribute to the war".
Yesterday, Foreign Minister Albares confirmed the rejection of the cargo shiptudy Danica carrying weapons cargo to Israel, having previously requested permission to stop at Cartagena on May 21.
"We have detected this ship, we refuse to allow it to dock, and I can inform you that this will be a consistent policy with any ship carrying Israeli weapons and weapons cargo wishing to dock in the Spanish port," Foreign Minister Albares told reporters in Brussels.
The ship carried nearly 27 tons of explosives from Indian Madras, El Pais reported.

The report comes amid a dispute between the ruling Socialist Party and their left-wing partners over a ship's transit permit carrying weapons to the Israeli port.
