KKP Names 254 Fisheries Business Actors In West Sumatra Affected By Flash Floods

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is moving quickly to deploy fisheries counselors to collect data on victims affected by flash floods in disaster response actions in the West Sumatra region.

"KKP also mobilizes students and their cadets to clean up former flash flood materials and mobilize all local KKP UPTs for disaster response actions, including aid raising," said Head of the KKP Marine and Fisheries HR Counseling and Development Agency (BPPSDM) I Nyoman Radiarta, quoted from the KKP official website, Friday, May 17.

Nyoman said that the temporary results of data collection by fishery extension workers as of Thursday, May 16, there were 254 main actors of marine and fisheries who were victims of disasters in 5 districts.

The details, from Tanah Datar Regency as many as 184 people in 9 sub-districts; Agam Regency as many as 27 people in 3 sub-districts; Sijunjung Regency as many as 13 people in 2 sub-districts; Padang Pariaman Regency as many as 13 people in 1 sub-district; and Padang Panjang Regency as many as 17 people in 2 sub-districts.

"The impact experienced by the victims included dead, washed away, and lost fish. As well as damaged cultivation ponds, broken and buried by large rocks, mud, soil, sand, twigs, wood, trees, garbage and so on," he said.

In addition to Koto Tuo, the BPPSDM Team also visited Canduang District and Sungai Puar District in Agam Regency for a review of disaster locations and coordination at posts with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), local governments, local community leaders and victims.

It didn't stop there, the BPPSDM team also moved to other regencies, such as Tanah Datar.

The data on the main actors affected in Tanah Datar Regency is as follows.

In Batipuah District 28 people, Lima Kaum 15 people, North Lintau Buo 8 people, Padang Gantang 9 people, Rambatan 16 people, Salimpaung 3 people, Sungai Tarab 32 people, Tanjung Baru 37 people, Tanjung Emas 16 people and X Koto 20 people.

"The fisheries instructors continue to coordinate and collect data in the 5 affected districts," he added.

In addition to manpower, KKP will provide assistance such as the rental of heavy equipment, improvement of cultivation business infrastructure, foodstuffs, side dishes, processed fish as well as daily necessities, both for fisheries and the general public.
