PDIP Ragukan Claims Prabowo Leaves Military Style While Leading Government

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Djarot Saiful Hidayat is not sure that the elected president for the 2024-2029 period Prabowo Subianto will leave his military style while leading the government.

This was conveyed in response to Prabowo's statement when speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum 2024 on Wednesday, May 15. The Defense Minister said he had been out of the military unit for decades so it was irrelevant to link it to the military leadership style.

"We follow Pak Prabowo saying that his leadership style is different from his mentor, namely Pak Jokowi. Yes, we will see what Pak Prabowo's original leadership style is like," Djarot told reporters at the PDIP DPP office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday, May 16.

Djarot said a person's character could not change that easily as well as Prabowo. He said, even though he had been outside the military for 25 years, habits certainly couldn't just disappear.

After all, the military style has been embedded in him. Our question is, is, is it so easy for someone to change their character and character," he said.

Furthermore, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta said there was nothing wrong with the character of a military because they were educated with discipline, royal, patriotic, and focus. However, it would be a problem if they used their habits to lead with intimidation.

"What's not good is to use forces like the new order regime to silence, to intimidate, to prohibit, limit, and so on," said Djarot.

"But nowadays things like that are difficult to do. So hopefully we'll see," he continued.

Prabowo in the international forum Qatar Economic Forum 2024 said the approach as a leader of the people and the command of different soldiers. Moreover, he is no longer active as a military so that these styles will not be used when leading Indonesia.

"I've been out of the military for maybe more than 25 years. So it's irrelevant (entangled at this time with his leadership background in the military, ed). So this has nothing to do with it," he said in the activity.
