Indonesia Kutuk Aksi Perusakan Warga Israel Terhadap Bantuan Humanitarian Untuk Gaza

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government condemns the destruction of international aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the role of Israeli security forces on security guarantees and urging the UN Security Council to request it from Israel.

"Indonesia strongly condemns the blockade and destruction carried out by Israeli civilians towards humanitarian assistance from the international community for Gazans," wrote the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted from the X social media account, Thursday, May 16.

"The distribution carried out by the Israeli security forces proves that Israel's position continues to try to hinder by various means of distributing humanitarian aid to the Gazan people. This action should be dealt with firmly and ensured that it will not happen again," continued the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, Israeli protesters blocked aid trucks to Gaza on Monday, deploying food packages on the road in a series of recent incidents that occurred, as Israel pledged to allow uninterrupted humanitarian supplies into the trapped enclave.

Footage circulating on social media showed at least one truck on fire, while another image showed damaged trucks and their cargo stripped, scattered on the road near the Tarqumiya checkpoint outside Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

"The aid transferred by the State of Israel immediately fell to Hamas," the statement of the Orde 9 group that organized the protest.

The group said as long as Israel "given a gift to Hamas and a possible total control over the Gaza Strip through aid distribution ownership", Hamas would not be interested in the deal that would repatriate the still detained hostages.

On Tuesday, Palestinian freight transport drivers expressed concern about the safety of aid convoys to Gaza, a day after Israeli protesters damaged trucks carrying humanitarian supplies to the enclave, which is facing a severe hunger crisis.

"Yesterday there was coordination for 70 aid trucks to the Gaza Strip," said Waseem Al-Jabari, Head of the Hebron Food Trade Association.

"When the trucks were loaded with products at the crossing, the settlers attacked the trucks and they destroyed the products and burned the trucks," he said, saying the Israeli army was silent when the attack broke out.

There was no comment from the Israeli military. Israeli police said a number of people were arrested and it was being investigated.

Israel is facing great international pressure to increase aid flows to Gaza, where international organizations have warned of a severe humanitarian crisis that threatens the population of more than 2 million people.

"Certaining the smooth running of humanitarian aid is very important. The Security Council must ensure guarantees from Israel for the smooth provision of humanitarian assistance, in order to prevent the worsening of the word humanitarian volunteers in Gaza," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
