Alphabet Will Announce AI Progress At I/O Developer Event
JAKARTA - Competition for artificial intelligence is getting tighter. After OpenAI released the latest update from ChtGPT4o, Monday, May 13, now it's Alphabet's rival's turn to follow. The Google parent company is expected to announce how the company is developing artificial intelligence (AI) across its business on Tuesday, May 14, or the day after OpenAI demonstrates a new AI model that can work with voice and images other than text.
The annual event I/O developer is usually an event for Alphabet to showcase their latest technology. Anything that will be revealed will later help investors evaluate Alphabet's progress compared to OpenAI, which is supported by Microsoft.
The event is an important indicator of Alphabet's competitive position in technology when the company introduces AI to products such as searches, which are used by billions of people around the world.

Google is expected to launch a new version of the Android operating system and various updates to their advanced AI technology called Gemini. The day before the event, Google teased the public with videos showing AI software that seem to be able to draw conclusions from the camera's live feed. Phone operators ask questions and apps answer in voice like virtual assistants.
This software appears to have capabilities similar to one of the features shown by OpenAI in the launch of their latest AI model, GPT-4o. OpenAI on Monday showcased their new multimodal AI model called the GPT-4o, which allows ChatGPT to respond via voice in real-time and can be interrupted, two hallmarks of realistic voice conversations that AI voice assistants like Google Assistant are difficult to deal with. The company said it would offer it to ChatGPT users for free, without ads.
The conference was held at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Sundar Pichai CEO and other executives are expected to start presenting at 10:00 am Pacific Time.
