In Order To Compete With Bentley, Jaguar Will Launch GT-Style Electric Cars At The End Of This Year

JAKARTA - Premium automotive brand from England, Jaguar plans to launch a GT-based battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) concept car for the United States (US) market by the end of 2024 as well as part of the re-born of this brand.

This was revealed by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) CEO Adrian Mardell, who said the car would use its own developed architecture as well as return DNA from the brand. Please note, Jaguar cars currently share the platform with Land Rover.

Reporting from Automotive News Europe, Tuesday, May 14, the sedan will go on sale next year for more than 100,000 and will enter the ultra-excitement vehicle market like Bentley.

The manufacturer with the 'Jaguar' animal logo will expand its model to three vehicles and will be built on a platform called the Jaguar Electrified Architecture (JAE).

Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not want to reveal further details about the model. However, it is estimated that this GT-style EV will be disclosed at the Pebble Beach Concourses d'Elegance in August or the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Jaguar Land Rover sees the US as an important market for the re-launch of the Jaguar brand as a high-end electric car brand that will compete with Bentley and Porsche, not Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

The company is optimistic that this step will be successful considering the brand was successful in exploring the US market in the 1990s when Jaguar targeted wealthy buyers.

The legendary brand also says that this latest GT will take inspiration from a number of models that have contributed to Jaguar's success in the past, including iconic E-Type.

"You will be tempted when you see the car. I'm sure," said Mardell.

Last year, JLR Chief Creative Officer Gerry McGovern, said the model would have an astonishing and different design from other electric cars. It is claimed that the car has a range of up to 700 km.
