Inaugurating Antara Cultural Heritage, Erick Thohir Messages Media Not To Be A Tool For Breaking The Nation
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir conveyed a message from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) that the mass media and members of the press must be a correction system for the nation. He also reminded the mass media not to become a tool for breaking the nation.
This was conveyed by Erick when inaugurating the Center for Cultural Heritage Center in the Pasar Baru area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 14.
"It is very important that the media should not be a tool to divide the nation, but instead become a correction to a healthy system," said Erick.
Not only that, Erick also conveyed Jokowi's request that the media could act as a check and balance and provide good news.
"So that people can learn from the freedom of the press in Indonesia, especially since Indonesia is a democratic country," he explained.
Erick also said that the mass media must be able to follow the development of the industry to maintain its existence as an information provider for the community.
"One of the challenges of today's press industry is the importance of maintaining the accuracy of information, while maintaining the accuracy of information, and maintaining the quality of information to be precise and accurate. In fact, it must be able to straighten out misinformation," said Erick.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Budi Arie Setiadi, advised the Antara LKBN Perum which has been established since 1937 to be able to adapt to the current development of the media industry.

Not only that, Budi also asked the mass media and press personnel to support the achievement of the upcoming Indonesia Gold 2045 target.
"This is Antara's duty to continue to encourage, motivate, and understand the public that the right time for Indonesia to become a developed country is in 2045 with all the support and efforts of the entire community," said Budi.
