Yadea Officially Builds The First Factory In The Country, Production Target Of 3 Million Electric Motors Per Year

JAKARTA - An electric motorcycle manufacturer from China, Yadea, Monday, May 13, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its first new factory in the country in Karawang, West Java.

Please note, the factory in Karawang will become the eighth Yadea factory worldwide, and will become the largest factory of the brand in Southeast Asia, which is scheduled to start operating in 2026.

"So this year we will reach 40 percent of the local content (Domestic Component Level/TKDN) and we hope that by 2027 it can reach above 90 percent, that's our target," said General Manager of the Indonesian Yadea Manufacturing Company, Wang Jinlong, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 13.

The manufacturing base will stand on an area of 27 hectares, with an annual production capacity projection of three million units of electric vehicles (EV).

The total investment estimated for facilities in Indonesia from 2024 to 2028 is USD 150 million or around IDR 2.4 trillion (with the current exchange rate).

"Later on, factories in Indonesia will not only produce vehicles for local markets, but also exports to several countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and East Timor," Wang explained.

The new Yadea plant integrates state-of-the-art production technology, featuring a pioneering hanging conveyor system for real-time production and on demand. Automatic assembly lines and robotic welding ensure a fast and efficient production process, producing electric motorcycles in just 35 seconds.

"With the opening of this factory we will absorb more than 3,000 workers," Wang added.

To date, Yadea has assembled its products locally at the Indomobil Group partnering facility in the Cikarang area, Bekasi Regency, West Java. All of them will move after the factory in Karawang is completed.

Yadea has served more than 80 million subscribers in more than 100 countries, with a network of more than 40 thousand retailers worldwide. In 2023, Yadea achieved global sales of 16.5 million units, claiming its position as the world's best-selling electric two-wheeled vehicle brand for seven consecutive years.
