BPJS Kesehatan Ensures KRIS Does Not Remove The Level Of Participants' Inpatient Service Class

JAKARTA - BPJS Kesehatan President Director Ghufron Mukti stated that the implementation of the Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) did not remove the level of inpatient care class for BPJS Health participants.

This is in response to the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 59 of 2024 concerning Health Insurance which regulates the issue of KRIS.

"There are still standard classes, there are grade 2, grade 1, there are VIP classes. But this is once again a non-medical problem," said Ghufron Mukti, who was confirmed in Jakarta, Monday, May 13, as quoted by Antara.

Ghufron said, the Presidential Regulation is oriented towards the uniformity of the inpatient class which refers to 12 criteria, including the components of the building used not to have a high porosity level, air ventilation, room lighting, completeness of the bed, including room temperature.

In addition, service facility providers also need to share treatment rooms based on the gender of patients, children or adults, as well as infection or non-infection.

Other criteria are mandatory for service providers to consider hospitalization densities and quality of beds, provision of curtains or inter-bed partitions, inpatient bathrooms that meet accessibility standards, and provide oxygen outlets.

"That there are standard hospitalization classes with 12 criteria, for BPJS participants, so as the doctor's oath, it should not be distinguished by the provision of medical servants on the basis of ethnicity, religion, social status or different contributions," he said.

If there are participants who want to be treated in a higher class, said Ghufron, it is permissible as long as it is influenced by non-medical situations.

Article 51 of the Health Insurance Presidential Decree stipulates that the increase in treatment classes is carried out by following additional health insurance or paying a difference between costs guaranteed by BPJS Kesehatan and costs that must be paid for the increase in services.

The difference between costs guaranteed by BPJS Kesehatan with service costs can be paid by the participants concerned, employers, or additional health insurance.

"Yes, of course, the Presidential Decree on Health Insurance is good, it doesn't just regulate patients being able to advance to class, except for PBI or those in class III," he said.
