Floods Paralyze Access To Transportation In Nagan Raya Aceh

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, deployed personnel to help the community and road users who were trapped in a flood as high as one meter that submerged the provincial road on the Meulaboh-Medan route, precisely in the Alue Bata Village area, Tadu Raya District.

"There were no casualties in this natural disaster, but hundreds of vehicles and public transportation were trapped in the flood," said Head of BPBD Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, Irfanda, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 13.

The flood that inundated the road was caused by the high rainfall that had occurred since the last few days, causing the river's water discharge to increase.

Irfanda said hundreds of vehicles trapped in the flood are currently still in handling efforts, and waiting for the receding water so that vehicles trapped in the flood can continue their journey.

"The team is still in the field to make efforts to handle it," said Irfanda.

In addition to causing disruption to traffic flow, he said, natural disasters in this area also caused hundreds of houses to be submerged in water, after the river flow of Krueng Kulu and Krueng Tadu overflowed, respectively.

There was also the distribution of floods that inundated the residents' houses, each in Tadu Raya District, Beutong District and Kuala District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province.

BPBD also continues to collect data on communities affected by the flood, as well as coordinating with relevant agencies to make further efforts.

"We are also still monitoring several flood points to ensure there is no damage to infrastructure in the community," said Irfanda.
