Prosecutors Present 8 Former SYL Subordinates At The Extortion And Bribery Case Session

JAKARTA - The KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) has again presented witnesses in the trial of alleged extortion and bribery that ensnared former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. A total of eight witnesses will be presented at the Jakarta Corruption Court today, Monday, May 13.

"The Prosecutor's Team will present witnesses," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Monday, May 13.

Ali detailed that the eight witnesses were the Director General of Plantation of the Ministry of Agriculture Andi Nur Alam, the Director of Development of the Director General of Plantation of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Saleh Muktar, the Head of the General Division of the Director General of Plantation of the Ministry of Agriculture Sukim Supandi, and the Director General of Animal Health Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture Nasrullah.

Then there are also the Head of the General Section of the Secretariat General of PKH Arif Budiman, the Secretary of the Director General of PKH Makmun, the Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Ali Jamil Harahap, and the Head of the General Section of the Director General of Infrastructure & Agriculture Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture M. Jamil Bahruddin. Ali said their statements were needed in the trial of alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities by Syahrul.

"Strengthening the facts of the previous trial in the trial of the defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo et al," he said.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who is a former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), is undergoing a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court. He is suspected of extorting his employees of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.
