Dragged By 3km Flow, SAR Team Evacuates Victims Drowning In Batanghari River

JAMBI - The search for drowning victims in the Batanghari River is starting to bear fruit. The Jambi SAR team managed to evacuate the drowning victim in Pagar Puding Lamo Village, Serai Serumpun District, Tebo.

The Coordinator of the Bungo SAR Post M Andri in Jambi, Sunday, said that entering the third day, the SAR Team and the community were also expanding the search area for drowning victims on behalf of Ridwan (55) in the Batanghari River.

"The victim was found by residents after we conducted a three-day search," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

He said the SAR team conducted a search for up to five kilometers downstream of the Batanghari River.

The search finally paid off, where the victim was found by residents for approximately three kilometers from the scene on Sunday at 09.00 WIB.

"Today the victim was found and we have evacuated it," he said.

Furthermore, the Joint SAR Team and the community immediately evacuated the victims to the funeral home. After the victims were evacuated, the Joint SAR Team immediately closed the SAR operation and returned to their respective units.

Earlier on Friday (10/5), at 06.00 WIB, the victim, Ridwan (55) drowned while looking for fish in the Batanghari river, Tebo Regency, by boat. While on the way, the boat capsized, causing the victim to sink.

After receiving this information, the Bungo SAR Post Team and other joint SAR elements included the TNI, Polri, Tebo BPBD, SAR potential, and the community conducted a search using rubber boats and residents' boats.*
