The investigation team of the East Nusa Tenggara Police Ditreskrimum handed over five of the six foreign nationals (WNA) from China who were arrested along with six Indonesian citizens in the waters of Kupang Bay on Wednesday last week.

"It has been handed over to us five foreigners by the NTT Police, one more foreigner is still at the Regional Police because it is still in the process of being investigated," said Kupang Immigration Office Head Christian Penna, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, May 12.

This was conveyed in connection with the development of the arrest of six foreigners from China along with six Indonesian citizens by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) while conducting patrols in Kupang waters.

He said of the five Chinese foreigners, only one foreigner whose immigration documents still meet the requirements because his residence permit is still there.

"Meanwhile, four more are not, because his residence permit in Indonesia has passed," he said.

He also explained that from the results of the examination it was also known that the five of them entered Indonesian territory through official channels, by bringing immigration documents.

They were also when they were arrested by the KKP apparatus and the NTT Police had not left Indonesian territory because they were arrested in Indonesian waters, namely in Kupang.

Currently, the five of them have been detained at the Kupang immigration detention house (Rudenim) while further investigations are being carried out regarding their visit to Indonesia.

Earlier on Wednesday (8/5) then the KKP found a suspicious ship sailing to leave Kupang waters. KKP officers then approached and checked the documents, but his party found the ship did not have a sailing permit.

KKP officers then suspected that there was an element of human smuggling, so they reported it to the NTT Police, then arrested.
